The Sabre Room was established on the site of a famous spa that reached the zenith of its popularity in the early 1920's.

The beautiful Italian fountain
resting on four reclining lions
that now dominates our current
lobby was the signature icon
from this historic location. In
the late 1940's, fresh from the
dark days of World War Two,
Arnold Muzzarelli and his wife
Marie saw the now closed spa
as a chance to realize their
dreams.
Always ahead of his time, Arnold brought the magic of fiber optic lights to the
Sabre Room before fiber optics existed. Intrigued by the glow of flourescent
colors the original dining room was aglow with this magic. The glamour of
dinners served on a "flaming sabre" led to the adoption of a sword as the Sabre
Room's trademark. In the late 70's and early 80's the Sabre Room was expanded
and now features an impressive Grand Ballroom seating up to 1200 people and
featuring a state of the art stage, in addition to other beautiful banquet rooms.
Some of the stone foundation from the original spa was incorporated into this
new building.

Trained at the famous Ambassador
East in Chicago, Arnold wanted to
bring the excitement of fine dining,
service and entertainment to this
somewhat remote location. His wife
Marie brought her extensive culinary
talents to the kitchen. From their
signature items such as; rye lace,
breaded lobster, thick steaks, sauted
cottage fries, and Marie's banana cake,
they developed quite a following.
